Riley Keough, the granddaughter of rock ‘n roll legend Elvis Presley, is speaking out after the sudden death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley.

33-year-old Keough lost her mother Lisa at age 54. She died of an apparent cardiac arrest.

During an interview with People magazine, Keough said the upcoming TV miniseries “Daisy Jones & The Six” reminds her of her mother.

“I was raised by somebody who did their own thing and didn’t really care what other people thought,” Keough explained. “[My mother] was definitely inspirational to me.”

“[I was] always interested in women who weren’t behaving ‘the right way,'” Keough said.

Keough shared a photo to Instagram from her childhood along with a simple red heart emoji. A number of high-profile celebrities commented with their support, including Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie, and many others.

Lisa Presley was the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley.

Just two days before her death, Lisa said five specific words while appearing frail at the Golden Globes in Los Angeles.

She said, “I’m gonna grab your arm” while speaking to 80-year-old talent manager Jerry Schilling. They linked arms as it appears she needed support to stand.

Lisa and her mother, Priscilla, were at the awards show in support of the movie “Elvis,” starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. Regarding the movie, she said, “It was so spot-on and authentic.”

Emergency paramedics responded to a call from her California home and performed CPR as she was not breathing. She was rushed to the hospital.

She was 9 years old when her father died at their Graceland home. In August of 1977, Elvis Presley was found unconscious in his Graceland mansion. He was pronounced dead at age 42. 

While at her home in Calabasas, she went into “full arrest.” Paramedics were able to regain a pulse before she arrived at the hospital.

Hollywood actor Austin Butler won his first Golden Globe award for best actor in a dramatic motion picture for his portrayal of Elvis Presley. Lisa Presley has worked as a singer and songwriter in her father’s legacy. She has three children.

She also owned and operated Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005. The company was sold. Lisa Presley dropped out of high school as a teenager and entered rehab after she had started to use drugs.

She met musician Danny Keough in rehab and they later married in 1998. The pair divorced in 1994 after six years of marriage.

Lisa Presley remarried singer Michael Jackson, a marriage that would last less than two years. She married actor Nicholas Cage in 2022, but the marriage ended less than four months later.
