The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has sent its Industry and Commerce Minister, Nooruddin Azizi, to Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a program run by the Chinese Communist Party that offers funding to poor nations for infrastructure projects.

However, critics argue that the program is a form of predatory lending that erodes the sovereignty of the countries involved and allows China to increase its geopolitical clout.

“China remains impartial, refrains from fueling the fire, maintains neutrality and strives for peace. It encourages conflicting parties to escape the cycle of confrontation and conflict,” the state outlet claimed. “This stance aligns with China’s choice and is consistent with the universal concept of human rights.”

China has been accused of human rights abuses and colonialism, particularly in Africa.

The Taliban regime in Afghanistan has welcomed Chinese investment and influence in exchange for its support of China’s ongoing genocide of Muslims in East Turkistan.

China has consistently urged the world to lift sanctions on the Taliban and praised the regime for bringing stability to Afghanistan, despite the Taliban’s record of human rights abuses and oppression of women.

The Taliban’s participation in the Belt and Road Forum is seen as an opportunity to attract Chinese and other international investment into Afghanistan’s infrastructure and mining sector.

Afghanistan is believed to be rich in mineral resources, including rare-earth minerals essential for high-tech equipment and electric vehicles.

China is the dominant power in the processing of rare-earth minerals.

The Taliban officially joined the BRI in May and China became the first country to appoint an ambassador to Kabul in September, recognizing the legitimacy of the Taliban regime.

“Taliban’s attendance highlights China’s efforts to provide Afghanistan with a broad platform to get involved in the international community and seek more opportunities to develop its domestic faltering economy and livelihood,” a Chinese regime-approved “expert” said.
