Whoopi Goldberg’s comments on The View about former President Trump’s statements on entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security have recently come under fire.

Goldberg disagreed with Trump’s suggestion that entitlements could be cut or face theft and mismanagement.

“There is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements, in terms of cutting and in terms of also the theft and bad management of entitlements,” Trump said.

“Yeah, we could put you in jail,” Goldberg said.

“For all of your entitlements,” she added.

“Social security is not an entitlement,” she said. “We paid for that. We paid for that … This is your money.”

She claimed Social Security is not an entitlement because “we paid for that” through payroll taxes.

However, critics argued that Social Security is defined as an entitlement because people are entitled to checks after paying into the system.

Goldberg’s comments have been criticized as merely pandering, as some have pointed out that with her estimated $60 million net worth, she would not need to rely on government benefits for her wealthy retirement.
